OFN and iQ Networks sign agreement for fibre transit across Iraq

The agreement connects the planned FIG subsea landing with an overland route towards Türkiye and Europe; implementation remains subject to approvals.

Ooredoo announced on 7 October that OFN, its international connectivity business, signed an agreement to purchase multiple dark fibre pairs from iQ Networks for transit across Iraq. The announcement identifies a separate arrangement with the Iraqi Telecommunications and Post Company for the planned Iraqi landing of the Fibre in Gulf cable.

The two arrangements cover different parts of the proposed route: a subsea connection into Iraq and onward terrestrial capacity towards Türkiye and Europe. Ooredoo identifies telecom operators, cloud providers and data centres among the intended customers.

This is a contract announcement. The release says implementation remains subject to government and regulatory approvals; it gives no contract value, Iraqi capacity allocation or service-start date. It does not establish that the integrated route is operating.
