Siemens Energy’s regional managing director told The National in February 2026 that the company was looking at adding approximately 14 GW in Iraq with partners. The interview also addressed upgrades to transmission and distribution alongside new generation.
The figure was a company-described development ambition, subject to project preparation and financing. It was not a measurement of installed or dispatchable new capacity and should not be treated as a single awarded contract.
The interview predates the later Phase IV cooperation framework covered separately by Iraq Business Desk. Project-specific financing, contracts and commissioning records are needed to track how much of the pipeline advances.
