Qatar and Iraqi chambers sign memorandum for a joint business council

The 7 October Doha agreement establishes a framework for business cooperation; the investment proposals presented are not financing commitments.

Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce signed a memorandum in Doha on 7 October to establish the Qatar–Iraq Joint Business Council. Qatar Chamber identifies its chairman, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani, and federation president Amer Khalaf Alawi as the signatories.

The framework covers business connections and cooperation involving SMEs. At the same meeting, the Iraqi delegation presented Development Road-related investment proposals across several sectors.

The chamber describes approximately 60 opportunities valued at $250 billion. That is the announced value of proposals presented at the meeting, not capital committed by Qatari investors. The release identifies no project-specific financing agreements or contract awards.
