Iraqi Line plans Jebel Ali–Umm Qasr cargo service for 15 October

The planned Gulf service would give Iraqi importers another carrier option; sailing frequency and freight rates remain unconfirmed.

Iraq’s Transport Ministry plans an Iraqi Line cargo voyage from Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates to Umm Qasr on 15 October, Iraqi News reported. The service is intended to carry containers and other goods. Maritime publication Robban Assafina also carried the ministry’s announcement.

The proposed connection gives importers a potential additional shipping option, but the announcement does not establish a regular operating schedule, freight tariff or available vessel capacity. Its commercial value will depend on those terms and on subsequent sailings. The first departure and arrival would establish whether the announced service has begun.
