Iraq’s Oil Ministry said exports were averaging about 2.6 million barrels a day in September, according to Iraq Business News on 22 September. The ministry described a reported four-million-barrel figure as a single day’s exports rather than the continuing daily average.
The clarification linked the peak to cargo-loading schedules, including Qayara crude routed outside the Strait of Hormuz alongside other export volumes. It said the running average could change over the remaining days of September.
The distinction matters when comparing shipment recovery or estimating revenue: a busy loading day cannot substitute for a monthly average. These figures describe the position reported before September ended. They do not establish the final September average or October export performance.
