964media reported on 14 September that Iraq’s electricity generation had reached 24,700 MW that month, citing the Electricity Ministry, compared with roughly 21,000 MW during the summer. Its article also compared the September number with an estimated summer peak demand of 55,000–60,000 MW.
September output and summer peak demand refer to different seasonal conditions. The report does not separate new capacity from plants returning after maintenance, so the rise cannot all be counted as newly built generation. It also cites loss estimates that mix physical network losses with unmetered or unbilled consumption; those categories need separate definitions.
These figures are a dated operating lead rather than an audited time series. Consistent dispatch, peak-demand and billing data would be needed to measure the current gap and the contribution of individual projects.
