Iraq’s Ministry of Trade and the International Trade Centre are preparing two documents: a national trade policy and a National Trade and Investment Strategy. Iraq Business News reported on 9 October that a planning meeting considered their scope and the sequence of work.
The ministry’s Private Sector Development Department led the Iraqi side. The stated objectives include private-sector development, diversification and access to regional and international markets.
This is an early planning milestone. The account identifies neither the selected sectors nor a delivery date, funding allocation or adopted policy measures. It establishes no change to current import requirements.
