Iraq’s government, FAO and the World Bank launched a farm-management and dairy-aggregation initiative on 29 September, according to a FAO announcement published on 1 October. The pilot aims to reach about 7,000 rural households in selected governorates, including women and small-scale livestock keepers.
The Ministry of Agriculture oversees the initiative, FAO implements it, and the World Bank-hosted Iraq Reform, Recovery and Reconstruction Fund provides financing. Planned support includes training, productive assets and infrastructure intended to improve milk quality, productivity and access to markets.
The household figure is a programme target. The launch announcement does not report achieved income gains or completed dairy infrastructure.
