Dhi Qar official outlines use of 50 billion dinars for marsh-area water projects

An existing allocation is supporting water facilities and rehabilitation, according to the local projects department.

Dhi Qar has a parliamentary allocation of 50 billion Iraqi dinars for projects in its marsh areas, with part already used for new water facilities and rehabilitation, a local official said in reporting carried by Al-Ghadeer on 4 October.

Adnan Abdullah, director of the governorate’s Marshes and Wetlands Projects Department, described coordination with local water authorities, the Marsh Revival Centre and UNDP on drinking-water needs. He also identified the Islah water project as serving several districts, including Chibayish and Al-Manar.

The account concerns an existing allocation and work at different stages. It does not announce a new 50-billion-dinar contract or establish that all planned facilities are complete.
