Oil Ministry reports Artawi AG25 gas project 96% complete

The reported construction milestone precedes commercial operation of the accelerated gas facility.

Iraq’s Oil Ministry put construction progress on the accelerated AG25 gas project at Artawi at 96%, NEWS.IQ reported on 29 September. The project is being developed with TotalEnergies.

The report gives a design capacity of 50 million standard cubic feet of raw gas a day, with more than 40 million standard cubic feet of dry gas intended for power generation. These are planned processing and supply capacities, not measured operating output.

The larger central gas-processing plant was separately reported at about 35% completion. Neither construction percentage establishes that commercial operation has begun.

The ministry also described a long-term ambition to expand crude production capacity beyond 10 million barrels a day, dependent on further exploration and development.

The wider setting is the Gas Growth Integrated Project. TotalEnergies said in September 2025 that its gas, solar, oil and water components were all in execution. AG25’s early gas facility and the larger processing plant are distinct milestones within that programme; progress on one cannot establish the operating status of the others.
